Education Community of Practice: K-12 After School and Saturday Programs


The Community of Practice for Education is happy to announce the Conversations in Education Series , with this upcoming webinar focusing on K-12 After School & Saturday Programs. Speakers of all languages are welcome to join because real-time translation will be offered through Microsoft Teams.

 

Looking to make a difference in after school and Saturday education? 

Five innovative presenters from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, and Colombia will share their Partners projects in 4-minute presentations.

Deepen your engagement in breakout rooms to discuss these projects with fellow Partners who share your educational interests.

Learn about:

  • Working with rural Javaé elders to teach tribal youth and adults their Iny Rybe language and culture in Tocantins State, Brazil
  • Using Montessori to develop reading and math skills in an after-school center for public-school Bolivian children and their poorly educated mothers in El Alto, Bolivia.
  • Training Colombian teachers and their Venezuelan immigrant students to use “Explora Club time” to learn how to design solutions to local problems and then implement them.
  • Collecting environmental data in rural Patagonia, Argentina for GLOBE and discussing it worldwide; some club members win scholarships to international conferences.
  • Rocking out English classes with music, art, and acting to marginal students in Barranquilla, Colombia.
