Description

The 2024 Education and Culture professional exchange program, Raíces y Caminos: Empowering Afrodescendant Change Agents, offers a ten-day immersive experience in Georgia and Washington, D.C. from November 11-22, 2024, for up to ten professional community leaders from Latin America and the Caribbean.  Focused on connecting Afrodescendants engaged in community leadership from across the Western Hemisphere, this program facilitates collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and cultural understanding between the U.S. and eligible Latin American and Caribbean countries.   

Participants will attend workshops on community leadership, network with fellow professionals, visit local non-profits, engage with governmental leaders, and learn from each other’s cultural experiences. During the exchange, they will share lived experiences related to race, problem-pose, and outline solutions faced by their communities. Participants will enhance their leadership skills, self-awareness, diplomacy, and problem-solving while fostering mutual understanding, equity, and empathy across the Western Hemisphere.
