In a parish school in Nicaragua, 150 children file in each day to a library of more than 500 books — many shipped down by volunteer Chapters in Wisconsin — where weekly reading sessions are turning struggling students into confident ones. It's one of dozens of projects the Partners of the Americas Foundation funds, backing youth literacy, education, and small-business work led by the communities that know their needs best.

Grants are open to dues-paying member organizations, Chapters, and their members. Not a member? Join today.

The Foundation is a separate 501(c)(3) charity established in 1984 and, since 2010, a supporting organization to Partners of the Americas, Inc. under IRC Section 509(a)(3). It manages program-specific endowments and unrestricted funds for Chapter and volunteer work.

Deadline to submit was June 15, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. ET.

Pixote Literacy

The purpose of the Pixote Literacy Fund is to provide literacy skills to 'pixotes' (youth ages 6-16) so they may avail themselves of more opportunities for a brighter future. The Fund established by Partners of the Americas volunteer and Foundation Board member, Stephen Murphy, is named after Hector Babenco’s film about “pixotes” (pronounced “pi-show-tees”) — or “little ones”— referring to underserved street kids in São Paulo, Brazil in the 1980s. The Pixote Literacy Fund provides grants to Partners of the Americas members located in Mexico, Central & South America, the Caribbean, and Brazil to work in close partnership and collaboration with organizations of faith of any denomination.

Madelyn L. Laschober Endowment Fund

The Madelyn L. Laschober Endowment Fund provides funds for an annual grant of up to $1,000 for a project related to youth, education, and microenterprise development. This grant is made possible by the family of Mrs. Laschober in honor of her lifelong interest in Latin America, her career as an elementary and middle school teacher, and her history of giving to charitable organizations. The Laschobers are members of the Washington Chapter, which is partnered with the Chile Chapter.
