About Antigua

Antigua is a small city surrounded by volcanoes in the south of Guatemala. It is famous for its Spanish colonial-style buildings, many of which were restored after the earthquake of 1773 that ended the 200-year period of Antigua as the colonial capital of Guatemala. In 1979, UNESCO declared Antigua a World Heritage Site.

Getting to Antigua

There are a variety of ways to arrive to Antigua. A couple recommendations include:

  • Yellow Taxi: It is recommended to hire a cab at the kiosks located inside the airport, the price ranges between $25 - $40. They are comfortable and safe.
