International Attendees

Are you not a Peruvian national?

We're thrilled to have you join us for the 2025 What Works Conference in Peru. As your prepare for this event as an international attendee, here are some essential considerations to ensure your trip to Peru is smooth and enjoyable.

Visa Requirements
Before traveling to Peru, please check the visa requirements based on your nationality. Most attendees from North America, Europe, and several other countries can enter Peru visa-free for tourism purposes. However, it's crucial to verify this information well in advance and apply for a visa if necessary.

Passport Validity
Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your planned date of departure from Peru. This is a standard requirement for most international travel and will prevent any issues upon entry into the country.

Health and Vaccinations
While Peru doesn't typically require specific vaccinations for entry, it's advisable to consult your healthcare provider regarding recommended vaccinations for travel to South America. Additionally, consider purchasing travel health insurance to cover any unexpected medical expenses during your stay.

Currency and Exchange
The currency used in Peru is the Peruvian Sol (PEN). It's advisable to exchange some currency before your arrival or withdraw Peruvian Soles from ATMs upon arrival. Most major credit cards are also widely accepted, especially in urban areas.

Language
Spanish is the official language of Peru, but many Peruvians in tourist areas and hospitality sectors speak English. However, learning some basic Spanish phrases can enhance your travel experience and facilitate communication with locals.

Transportation
Lima has a well-developed transportation network, including taxis, buses, and ridesharing services like Uber. However, it's advisable to arrange transportation from the airport to your accommodation in advance to avoid any hassles upon arrival.

We hope these tips help you prepare for your trip to Peru and the What Works Conference. We look forward to welcoming you to Peru and experiencing the conference together!
